Training and Movies

I love me some films. And I have this theory that people carry around with them at least one film that’s caught their eye that the rest of the world might not appreciate, for some reason. But they see some special magic in there – maybe some glimmer of the director or screenwriter’s original intent. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Event Horizon,, because I love the underlying kernel of human hubris being responsible for so much wrongness.
So, one of the things that I like to do as part of delivering training courses is get recommendations from students in answer to the following question:
“If you could get the rest of the world into a cinema, to watch one film, what would it be?”
Not necessarily because it’s the darling of the art critic world, or because it’s immensely popular, but because it’s special to them.
So, I keep the list here, plugged in to All Consuming, and I work through it over time. Proof positive that those recommendations don’t just get thrown away! Listed here is the latest 20 on the queue. Click the “I am consuming” link below to go to the full list.
Also, time permitting I try to put an entry against the film after watching it, too. My thoughts on the film, even if I’m going back to it after having seen it before… (films, like books, I think have a fresh context every time you watch them)
(side note: some tinkering will occur here to do something about the ?s displayed for movies without covers on allconsuming…)
